Building & Construction Robotics & Automation

The building products industry relies heavily on efficient component design and manufacturing. From metals to composites, the manufacturers of building products are under growing pressure to deliver distinctive, value-added features for their downstream construction clients.

We can help your business gain a competitive edge with automated solutions that streamline materials handling, elevate product aesthetics and shorten order cut-off times, while meeting strict quality and compliance standards.

Opportunities for automation

We will work with you to identify flexible automation opportunities to maximise the return on your investment.

Loading & unloading

Automated loading and unloading systems — including cranes and Automated Mobile Robots (AMRs) — streamline throughput, improve safety and enable precise material handling.

We can work with you to deploy an off-the-shelf AMR — including the range of autonomous material handling solutions from our preferred partner, Otto — or we can design, build and integrate a custom solution.

Raw material infeed

Automation — utilising cranes, robotics and Machine Vision Systems — optimises the supply and management of unprocessed materials by improving efficiency and enhancing quality control while minimising errors and reducing labour costs. For example, we partnered with Capral to integrate telescopic robot gripping technology into their aluminium extrusion press, designed to operate at temperatures over 500°C.

Product Assembly

We provide advanced automation solutions for constructing building products including frame and bridge assembly, automated routing, fastening solutions and robotic welding.

Packaging and outfeed

Two commonly deployed solutions are machine vision — which inspects the quality of building products and ensures correct product labelling — and six-axis movement that enables robots to efficiently pack and stack finished products. An example of our expertise is our work with Capral, where we developed an AI-powered Special Purpose Machine (SPM) to automate picking through to packaging, cutting freight volumes by 50%.

Storage

Smart stillage and trolley serialisation facilitate order bundling — and reduced handling costs — by enabling precise tracking and management of stored building products.

Effective Factory Design ensures production flow, material movement and equipment layouts are optimised before automation technologies are deployed
