Intralogistics Robotics & Automation

In the fast-paced world of intralogistics, efficiency, precision and agility are paramount. Our customised industrial automation and robotics systems are engineered to optimise these critical processes. We have deep expertise in the unique demands of this industry — ensuring that goods flow seamlessly from receiving to shipping — often in complex, dynamic environments.

We focus on cutting-edge technologies — including AMR (Automated Mobile Robot) and AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) solutions, palletising and de-palletising, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) and conveyor and sorting systems — delivering the flexible, scalable and intelligent automation that the industry demands.

Intralogistics automation solutions typically fall into two primary categories: fixed conveyors for predictable, high-volume flows and AMRs/AGVs for flexible, dynamic operations. Choosing the right solution is not necessarily a binary decision. We will collaborate with you to design a custom solution that may integrate both technologies.

Designing an intralogistics solutions

When developing an intralogistics solution, we comprehensively evaluate your operational environment to deliver a tailored, high-performance system.

Site Assessment

A review of your existing layout, navigation and connectivity.

Environment

Assess your operating conditions, including floor conditions and overall layout.

Application

Define the specific movements required.

Payload

Determine the size and weight of all materials to be handled.

Throughput

Identify your required speed and efficiency standards.

Integration

Establish how to connect with your Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).

Safety

Confirm your compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Matching the right technology solution to your operations

Intralogistics automation solutions typically fall into two primary categories: fixed conveyors for predictable, high-volume flows and AMRs/AGVs for flexible, dynamic operations. Choosing the right solution is not necessarily a binary decision. We will collaborate with you to design a custom solution that may integrate both technologies.

Fixed conveyor intralogistics solutions

Fixed conveyors excel in environments with high-volume, repetitive tasks and straightforward material flows — effectively linking fixed points within your process. Their advantages include exceptional throughput, reduced initial costs and proven reliability. However, these systems are best suited for stable environments with minimal expected changes, as they lack flexibility and scalability.

AMR/AGV intralogistics solutions

AMRs and AGVs provide more flexibility and scalability in dynamic environments with variable workflows. Intralogistic robots are reprogrammable and can adapt to a variety of tasks without the need for significant changes to existing infrastructure. Their versatility makes them ideal for managing a variety of product types and sizes; however, they may have a lower throughput compared to high-speed conveyors.

Implementing AMRs and AGVs requires higher initial investments. Additional considerations include the need for robust communication networks, battery maintenance and the implementation of safety measures such as collision avoidance systems.

Milliken & Co’s vacuum conveyor

In 1995, after a fire destroyed Milliken & Company's entire facility, we led the automation of carpet tile handling during the six-month rebuild. We designed eight specialised machine lines with proprietary vacuum conveyors, reducing tile stacking time from 12 seconds per tile to four tiles per second.

World's fastest mix pick line for Arnott's

Facing challenges in packaging assorted biscuits, we partnered with Arnott's to develop an automated solution. Over six months, we conducted a feasibility study and created the world's first automatic module for multi-variety biscuit packaging. The solution featured over 50 robots and 64 vision systems, proving both technically viable and commercially competitive.

Arnott’s automated inspection takes the biscuit

We worked with Arnott’s to deliver a high-speed robotic QA system for biscuit packaging, operating at up to 130 packs per minute. Delta robots inspect and fill biscuit cavities precisely, using 2D vision for defect detection and conveyor tracking. Designed for continuous operation and easy cleaning, the system improves product quality, boosts output and reduces manual handling.
