Building & Construction Robotics & Automation

The building products industry relies heavily on efficient component design and manufacturing. From metals to composites, the manufacturers of building products are under growing pressure to deliver distinctive, value-added features for their downstream construction clients.

We can help your business gain a competitive edge with automated solutions that streamline materials handling, elevate product aesthetics and shorten order cut-off times, while meeting strict quality and compliance standards.

Opportunities for automation

We will work with you to identify flexible automation opportunities to maximise the return on your investment.

Loading & unloading

Automated loading and unloading systems — including cranes and Automated Mobile Robots (AMRs) — streamline throughput, improve safety and enable precise material handling.

We can work with you to deploy an off-the-shelf AMR — including the range of autonomous material handling solutions from our preferred partner, Otto — or we can design, build and integrate a custom solution.

Raw material infeed

Automation — utilising cranes, robotics and machine vision — optimises the supply and management of unprocessed materials by improving efficiency and enhancing quality control while minimising errors and reducing labour costs. For example, we partnered with Capral to integrate telescopic robot gripping technology into their aluminium extrusion press, designed to operate at temperatures over 500°C.

Product Assembly

We provide advanced automation solutions for constructing building products including frame and bridge assembly, automated routing, fastening solutions and robotic welding.

Packaging and outfeed

Two commonly deployed solutions are machine vision — which inspects the quality of building products and ensures correct product labelling — and six-axis movement that enables robots to efficiently pack and stack finished products. An example of our expertise is our work with Capral, where we developed an AI-powered Special Purpose Machine (SPM) to automate picking through to packaging, cutting freight volumes by 50%.

Storage

Smart stillage and trolley serialisation facilitate order bundling — and reduced handling costs — by enabling precise tracking and management of stored building products.

We have partnered with a range of prominent clients and the SPM solutions we’ve implemented highlight our expertise in designing and deploying machines that address specific manufacturing challenges, delivering substantial efficiency gains and cost savings:

Food automation design principles

We design to EHEDG principles and Australian best practices to deliver:

  • Smooth, cleanable surfaces that minimise bacterial buildup
  • Use of food-grade materials such as stainless steel and approved polymers
  • Selection of IP-rated components compatible with Australian washdown environments
  • Elimination of dead spots where product or cleaning agents could accumulate
  • Built-in access for safe, efficient cleaning, maintenance and inspection.

All components are selected for hygiene compliance and durability, including NSF H1 food-grade lubricants and hygienically designed robotics and end-of-arm tooling.

We are industry agnostic and provide end-to-end Special Purpose Machines to support a range of manufacturing disciplines pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics, food & beverage, FMCG, mining, building products, waste & recycling, renewables and intralogistics.

Arnott’s automated inspection takes the biscuit

We worked with Arnott’s to deliver a high-speed robotic QA system for biscuit packaging, operating at up to 130 packs per minute. Delta robots inspect and fill biscuit cavities precisely, using 2D vision for defect detection and conveyor tracking. Designed for continuous operation and easy cleaning, the system improves product quality, boosts output and reduces manual handling.
